Knobs for Arts & Crafts Mystery desk

cslambertMay 25, 2014

So THIS DESK I posted about the other day needs knobs. Anyone have suggestions as to where I can get some that would be in keeping with the piece? I can stain/finish them myself although I'd prefer to happen upon some antique ones.

The originals appear to have been round, and glued into the drawer fronts like dowels. I imagine they would have been oak.

Squarish knobs in a shallow pyramidal shape.

Any cabinet knob vendor would have them.

Thats what I wanted to do at first-- but whatever knobs were originally on this piece had a round base on them-- Which makes me wonder what kind of round base knob would look "correct" on this piece?

Check Van Dyke's Restorers -- They have a lot of wooden knobs -- I don't know if they carry the doweled ones, though.

Here is a link that might be useful: Wooden knobs from Van Dyke's
