Attaching Wood Backing to a Mirror

streetbossMay 18, 2010

Hi. I have been trying to repair a vintage vanity set that I inherited from my grandmother. It has a 3' x 4' mirror on it, connected to a wood backing with plastic clips. It looks like there was some kind of foam strip on the wood backing(on the mirror side) but it has all but gone now. I purchased the closest thing I could find to replace the clips, which are metal. I attached them and thought that would work but the mirror keeps sliding when I try to put it atop the vanity because it is too heavy. Help me!

Do you mean one of those frameless Hollywood deco sort of dressers?
You need mirror clips...like the ones linked below....they also come in adjustable for different thickness of mirrors.
If the clip is the right size for the mirror you don't need backing.
Try a place that specializes in glass for bathrooms.
