Is flooring required to get Certificate of Occupancy?

maverick9001October 14, 2006

Hi. I'm finishing my basement now. we got the permit. finished framing, wiring, lighting, and insulation. waiting for the 2nd inspection. Then i will put the drywall up and ceiling. I'm not planning to do the flooring right now. Its concrete right now. Will there be a problem in issuing the Certificate of Occupancy ?

Thanks in advance for replying.

Not sure where you live, but in my area there would be no problem getting your CO. A basement is not considered to be square footage that has to be finished before occupancy.

We are in TN and the code is pretty strict here.

Only your town code official can answer that question.
