Is it safe to use a rubber bath mat in an acrylic tub?

prettydarkeyesJune 12, 2013

I just had an acrylic tub installed and it has a cobbled finish which I suppose is a non-skid finish.

However, I almost slipped this morning and am wondering if I can use a bathmat with rubber suction cups.

I always remove the mat after use, so before I contact the installer i thought I would check here first.

Thanks!

I'm looking for a new tub. I've considered the Mirabelle Edenton (which has a textured bottom) but have reconsidered after learning the following:

In my research for a new tub, I've heard that suction cups won't stick to textured surface tubs - but it's worth a try - just be careful. I've also heard that it's best to use PVC bath mats to protect the tub surface - not actual rubber. Or perhaps, try a non-PVC mat-better for you and the environment imo: http://www.healthyhappytot.com/pvc-free-bath/ But, this is all hear-say/stuff I've read on the internet as I have no actual experience with this issue.

I'd be interested to know how a bath mat works for you.

What tub did you buy? is it the Mirabelle Edenton by any chance? Or a Jacuzzi tub?

Best of luck to you!
