Brass pitcher with copper blotches? Looks more than 200 years old

bradleyd_svhMay 11, 2014

Very archaic looking brass pitcher, whcih is why I like it so much. Volume of 3 cups. Under bright light and looking into its interior (after a vigorous scrubbing) one can tell that this is indeed solid brass, but it is covered with copper-colored blotches.

Any idea what those are? Or what its age would be?

Would someone have electroplated copper over brass? No makers marks on it anyplace. I feel like this could be anywhere from fewer than 150 to more than 400 years old. (Not that I consider 400 likely at all). Posting pre-polishing and post-polishing photos.
