I am looking for landlord tenant laws for wisconsin that are understandable. I want decoded ones so i can understand better.
Yeah, reading some of that stuff is about exciting as watching paint dry, isn't it? ;)
I prefer muddling through the official language on the books, only for accuracy sake.
But often you can find simplified translations at the websites of Universities and Colleges in your state, geared for students who rent housing off campus.
Can't vouch for how current or accurate this is, but:
State Bar of Wisconsin Legal Q&A (see Landlord/Tenant, right section middle).
(HUD site led me to site above.)
Another one, sort of in-between. Explains and then cites the code in the legislature.
Hope that helps...
Thanks for the help. I decided to get a lawyer involved. Landlord never returned deposit and I paid ahead of time for to stay an extra month, never recieved that either. I should of background checked him before I even agreed to renting. Apparently in wisconsin they owe double back! I wouldn't want to be a bad landlord in my state. Luckily I gave him cashier checks everytime except once. He HATED those. He owes back taxes that have accumlated alot of interest. And I had collecters calling MY number looking for him. I should start a new thread. Makes for a good read.
Oh boy. Sounds like a mess. I'd be interested in hearing about it.
