Best solution - air conditioning? other?

Since my question is re: choice of ACs or dehumidifiers, I posted the below URL on the AC forum, but maybe someone here is expert in keeping the ground level of1950s ranch homes dehumidified too? If so, here it is:

Dehumidifiers will heat up the space they are used in (even as they remove the humidity).

Time for air conditioning.
