Post Basement Waterproofing

rygamerMay 26, 2010

I have a french drain. The basement never leaks water anymore. BUT. It has much more of a damp feeling in the basement now. I basically have to run the dehumidifier constantly in the summer. Where they dug around the perimeter of the basement they used "Waffle board" between the cinder block wall and the floor. Leaving i guess some kind of expansion gap. But I think through this gap is where all this extra moisture is coming through. I want to seal this somehow. Not sure if anyone had a similar experience.

It is absolutely normal for a basement in a temperate or warm climates to require mechanical dehumidification. Most interior drain tile systems are covered with a new layer of concrete. Check with the installers if covering it is feasible.
