old electric toy trains

nan_e_fanMarch 13, 2014

Is there anybody out there who can give me an idea of how much to sell these trains from the late fifties/early sixties for? I was going to post everything as a lot on ebay but I have no idea for a starting price. I have seen other such trains on the ebay site, but they seem to be sold separately. I want to sell this whole thing as a unit (trains, tracks, transformers and tin tunnel. Any Ideas? The larger engine is an American flyer and the smaller more detailed and I think newer engine and cars were made by tyco if that helps at all. Thanks.

Not sure where you live, but there are lots of model train clubs around. I would try to find one and ask them for guidance. Value will depend on age, gauge, condition, particular model number, etc. Good luck.

Do you have the original boxes? This can enhance the price especially for the older models.

The signs on the sides of the cars are important. There are collectors who strive to get cars with certain logos.

The steam engine model is described as a type 4-4-2 (4 lead wheels, 4 driver wheels, and 2 wheels under the cab). If the tender is the correct one for this engine type, it is important to keep the pair together.
