Anyone know of a good waterproofing sealer?

mariepattersonApril 16, 2010

Does anyone know the name of a good basement waterproofing sealer? I had a leak in my basement again and I remember seeing a commercial on TV about some Âfancy shmancy waterproofing sealer. If I remember correctly the way it works is it seeps into the pores of the cement and blocks the water from leaking inside.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this is the product you mean , or if it is even available where you live , but I used it to repair a number of leaks in my basement after trying just about everything else I could find . It's called XYPEX " High and Dry " and works through crystallization, apparently the chemicals in the product produce crystals of different sizes and shapes which lock together to dam up the leak. However it works, it works ! Their website is www.king-products.com Good luck !

I have used this to seal wood tanks and works great but have not used on basements but they say it works

Here is a link that might be useful: permaflex

I've used sanitred as well. it's great if you have unpainted/treated concrete - works very well. We used it in a little back room in the basement that started leaking after we put down one of those peel & stick tile floors. Obviously it had been damp previously, but we never thought it was leaking. Haven't had a problem since painting it on.

We still have one wall that needs treatment - but we have to strip the paint on that wall first.

The only thing I don't like about sanitred is the smell & the cost.
