carpet pad - what type to get

agguMarch 1, 2008

I know people have mixed opinion about doing carpets in the basement in this forum, but i think we have made up our mind to do carpet. We however are confused about what type of pad to use. Is vapor barrier on the pad a good thing or bad? Also what type of pad work best for basement, felt, foam or rubber? Would appreciate any input from members in this forum to help us choose the right pad for our carpet.

Before we went with padded commercial carpet tiles, I had pretty much settled on using 100% spun nylon carpet pad.
