Rocking chair identification

jupeterMarch 19, 2013

Can anyone tell me what kind of rocking chair I have? Possible maker and age? So far I haven't been able to find anything like it and I would like to know a little bit about it.

Very unusual! Does it have any markings on it? How is it put together? screws, wood, etc, pic of underside might help, horsehair padding etc.

It doesn't have any markings on it. I had pulled the bottom fabric away and there is horse hair, but it looks like it has been reupholstered at least once and there have been some repairs made at the top where the arms attach to the back rest. The only hardware I see on it are the upholstery tacks. Other than that it looks like the piece was put together with wood joints. I am in love with the lines of the chair and just wish I knew where it came from.

It's hard to say without seeing the rocker in person, but it's probably ca. 1910-20.
