finding parts for an antique lamp

sighMarch 27, 2008

It's a floor lamp, torchier, what have you. I need to find updated replacement wiring along with the big, 4" long ceramic bulb socket (though I do have the original, still attached to the original wiring).

The most difficult part is going to be replacing one of the columns/lamp stops. It's cast metal, looks bronze but is that nodescript pot metal on the inside. There were two on the lamp, one of which crumbled to dust.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good places to look for lamp parts? This thing is 60 years old & I'd really like to rehab it & put it into use.

Thanks very much,

Nina

You're in luck! I was doing some research on an old lamp for a friend and found this site.

Another place that I have used with great success is Hippo Hardware in Portland Oregon.

There is a great guy from Iowa there -- Cedar Falls area -- who has helped me thru tons of lamp repairs. They also carry a large selection of fabric covered cords for replacement.

You might put up a note on the ebay 'I want it now' page or put an ad out on craigslist

Here's another website of a lamp parts supplier out of New York City. I have used them to buy parts for fixtures when all I had were two antique globes. Their prices are reasonable as you will see. Good luck maybe they will have what you need "www.grandbrass.com"

Hello, I am looking for a floor lamp glass "break", H4" x 4" diameter. Cone shaped with a normal lamp tubing hole at the top. Anybody got any ideas?
