Pewter Casters/Muffineers/Pepper Shakers
I picked up these two pewter casters for 50 cents each and they appear to my admittedly untrained eye to be quite old. From the limited research I have done, casters came into existence some time in the 17th century, and the earliest ones where very simple and had bayonet-type fittings to hold the perforated top piece in place. This description seems to match what I have, so I'm conjecturing I picked up some 17th or early 18th century casters. However, I haven't been able to find any similar to these to help confirm this identification. Hopefully somebody on this forum can help.
