Any Thoughts on My Deco Sideboard?

ZoeCat17January 29, 2012

I'm extremely pleased about my most recent CL find - an oak deco sideboard for only $100. It was very dirty and dry, but a wipedown with Murphy's oil soap and plenty of wax-n-feed and it just glows.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on its origins. I got it from a guy who cleans out homes for estates and sells the stuff no one wants, so he didn't know anything about it.

Please excuse the box underneath - I still need to take out the dirty lining of one drawer before I can put things away. Unfortunately, I'll have to replace the pulls - it's missing two and the bakelite in the others is very brittle. From 2012-01-29 From 2012-01-29 From 2012-01-29 From 2012-01-29

Wonderful!....shame about the handles. Wonder if you could find repros?
But I don't think those feet were original to the piece. Does the bottom show any evidence of there have been different feet at one point?

Fori is not pleased

That looks pretty nice! Not the gaudy veneered deco stuff (which I love) but the grownup equally fabulous lowkey-but-still-glamourous solid stuff (which I also love).

Maybe try Muff's? Can't believe they haven't changed their name in the internet world....

It looks like English Art Deco to me.
