Does anyone know what this could be? Approximate production time or era? Bird figure made âÂÂâÂÂof quartz sand or something like that. Thanks in advance.
Hello, the height dimension is 165 mm (6,5 inches).
An urn for ashes maybe??
Hello. May be, seen on the photo size and metal top. This vase is in our family for several generations, the upper cover much corrosion. Strange, because vase always kept indoors. Thanks for any help.
Looks like a biscuit barrel .... Except no handle. Do a google search for
antique chinese porcelain biscuit barrel
Most list size about 6-7 inches. Any markings??
How big is the top opening? To me it looks too small for a biscuit barrel, I have several and the top openings are large enough to get your hand in.
My first thought was an urn for ashes -- the bird in flight may be symbolic?
I've never even seen one, but I, too, thought "urn for ashes" when I saw the photo. (And that was before I saw anyone else's guess.)
Is the top silver? It looks like tarnishes silver to me. An easy way to find out, buy a silver cleaning cloth at Walmart for about $7, rub inside of top. I thought ginger jar when I first saw it, but what ever it is, it's beautiful!
